In but a day…

There is always something missing, and yet, there is always something surplus to what one sees and expect seeing. Shadowy street corners cut with a solar knife, people walking like mesmerized and spoiled by the multitude of direction choices, baffled when they see each other, like none of them expected to encounter other humans, houses built with a fabulous and delightful disregard of equilibrium, lives passing by, going through every shade of happiness or sadness, lives abandoned, lives fulfilled, lives on the brink of anything worthy of living, eyes scanning every nook and cranny for a morsel of beauty, fulfillment and well-being, pious lives, sinning lives, lives dedicated to others, lives that just are belonging to themselves or not.

It all happens in a single day, modestly and unsurprisingly set between yesterday and tomorrow.
